The early warm weather caused colonies to grow quickly in March, but the wettest April since records began has meant that many hives still do not have sufficient stores at the beginning of May. The OSR is in full flower, so when we get better weather the bees will be able to gather nectar quickly, but in the meantime, keep checking that your colonies are not short of food and feed some fondant if needed.
